Sailing Experience

We bought a 39 feet aluminium hull in 2002 which we completely fitted out and we set off for 6 years with my wife Pascale and Vincent (9 years old). Destination: Cape Verde, Casamance, Brazil, Argentina, Patagonia, Chile, Polynesia, Cook, Niue, Tonga, New Zeland then back to the Netherlands, England, Spain and France. Vincent is 15 years old and wants to learn a trade!

When have you launched your Globe 5.80 boat? If not yet, at what stage is your build?

The boat has been back since August 2025. We are fitting out the interior while finishing the deck.

Why do you want to compete in the MGR?

Frustrated at not having completed the tour previously, I decided to do it solo in a boat that we also built. I did a lot of competition until l was 40 years old, and I miss it a little!

What do you consider the best and worst parts about the MGR?

Best parts: Full responsibility from construction to navigation and identical boats for all competitors.
